Meet the Staff

Meet the Staff

As any good camp director will tell you, the key to a successful summer is the caliber of the staff. Implementing a dynamic program and maintaining a beautiful facility is only meaningful if our staff supports the mission of providing a safe and nurturing camp environment for our campers. The selection of quality staff is given top priority. We look for the “cream of the crop”……the best of the best.

At Agawak we select sensitive, enthusiastic, exceptional people who are dedicated to working with children. Our staff is composed of undergraduate and graduate students, teachers, coaches and high school students who love camp, the outdoors and working with children. Agawak staff members are high spirited, passionate individuals from around the country and world who want to make a positive difference in the lives of our girls.

My name is T.J. McKenzie and I'm looking forward to my first summer at camp. Throughout the fall, winter, and spring, I'm a middle school science teacher in Minocqua, WI. I like to spend my free time outside, mostly fishing, hunting, and dog training. My family and I also enjoy camping and traveling.

HI! My name is Alyssa, some people like to call me Liss. I turned 18 last year and also graduated high school in Melbourne, Australia. I work at the Build-a-Bear workshop and I also nanny some amazing kids! This year I decided I should get out into the big world to learn and experience new things; and what's a better way to do that than go to  camp!? I look forward to meeting you all and having a wonderful summer at camp this year!

Hi, I'm Jamie Pascal! This will be my 9th summer and 2nd on staff at camp! I am currently a senior at Glenbrook North High School and I plan to attend the University of Illinois in the fall. You will see me jogging around camp, eating tons of hobo hash, and cheering loudly at every meal and campfire.  I absolutely cannot wait for another amazing summer on blue lake with my camp family- there's no place I'd rather be!

Mike Pierce (MP) - This summer, 2013, will be my 18th summer at Camp Agawak!  That's unbelievable!  But it has truly been an honor to see so many wonderful young girls grow up at camp.  I started my camping years in 1972 at Camp Timberlane, where I was a camper and then a counselor until 1987.   My first year at Agawak was 1996.  When I arrived, I headed up our Photography Program, then our Camping Program, and now our Water Ski Program.  I am now also working closely with our administrative staff.  My wife Suzi and I were married in our campfire area 3 years ago, in 2010.  How lucky are we!  You might ask why I keep returning?  Cause there ain't no place I'd rather be...!

Hi Everyone!  This will be my 6th summer on the beautiful shores of Blue Lake and 4th as the Activities Director and a member of the Administrative Team.  After spending 16 years growing up as a camper and counselor at Wisconsin Porter Gymnastics Camp, I am so lucky to spend my summers at Camp Agawak with my husband MP (Mike Pierce) and sons Ben and Max.  MP and I will celebrate our anniversary, again this summer, right where we were married- at Agawak!   We live in Boise, Idaho during the school year but countdown the days until we are back at camp!  I am looking forward to seeing all the returning campers and staff and welcoming all the new members to our family.  See you soon!
