It's always a beautiful day on Blue Lake!

Music was blaring from KWAK radio station, the sun was shining and our campers were running around the grounds smiling from one activity to another. We finished up our first series of activities and are filled with excitement for what’s in store for our second week. We welcomed back our second oldest age group from Gunflint and are happy to have them…safe at home! They were able to swim, hike, paddle and connect as an age group, plus take in scenic views of Magnetic Rock and Rose Falls.

We had a FULL activity day on Monday. In the evening, we announced an early dinner and played Blue and White Kidnapped! The girls met at their indoor team meeting spots eagerly waiting for the antique silver bell to ring. At the ring of the bell, campers took turns searching for the opposing team’s flag to claim the win.

We started our Tuesday morning with flagpole, breakfast and a BIG cabin clean up. During activities, I walked around and saw positive things happening. Our talented ceramics instructor, Sophia, was making beautiful mushroom earring holders, ceramic trays, bowls and a boat-load of other creative pieces with campers.  I took a trip down to the ski docks to see our skilled Min-Aqua Bat boat drivers, sharing their skiing tips and tricks with skiers in the water. I made my way over to indoor cooking where they were fixin’ up homemade fajitas. In outdoor cooking, they were popping homemade campfire popcorn. You may not be aware but we have several qualified activity specialists who come into camp for daily activities.  These older and qualified local instructors elevate the quality of our instruction. I feel fortunate to have such an experienced group of professionals

Around 5:30 pm we gathered at the flagpole and announced a Timberlane Social…..SURPRISE!!! Campers were left with a whole thirty minutes before dinner to dash off to the showers. Yes, our late social announcement was 100% planned. Why?  So older campers aren't tempted to dash off to the showers and abandon their activities too early. The Timberlane buses rolled in around 7:45 pm. Our giant silver bell rang loudly and Happy Camper Hall was soon filled with enthusiastic campers from both camps. Agawak campers and staff danced their little hearts out and went to bed exhausted after a full day of fun in the sun!

We continue to gear up for everything positive our summer together will bring.  When time allows, I’ll  keep you posted as best I can on the basic goings-on here but, until then, know we’re having a blast here, building friendships and making memories that will last a lifetime.

Full speed ahead and smile on!
