Wilderness Trip

Tripping at Agawak!

At Agawak, one goal we have is to teach our campers an appreciation for the outdoors and nature in general. Northern Wisconsin is a beautiful setting to enjoy all that the outdoors offer. Agawak campers are encourage to participate in one or more of our teepee outings and are required to participate as a CIT in the historic Boundary Waters trip.

Agawak campers may sign up for a one night trip to our 22' high teepee that can sleep 18. Groups going to the teepee may consist of one whole cabin or a mix of ages which is super fun. On a remote area of camp property is our teepee area that is the perfect spot to enjoy a little taste of roughing it. Campers bring their sleeping bags and make s'mores by an open fire, try a little star gazing and fall asleep to sounds of nature. For our eldest campers, the CIT group, their adventure takes them to the boundary waters at the edge of northern Minnesota on the border of Canada. Our 10th graders will pack out and canoe for 5 days guided by experienced trip leaders. Campers will canoe, pitch tents, build fires, cook their own food and do so with "No Trace Left Behind". Trip leaders have extensive trip guiding experience including backpacking, hiking, and open water guiding. Each group carries a satellite phone and will check in each day with the camp office.
